I would recommend getting to the Cemetary around 9am, even though the crew will not get there until 1pm if you wish to get close enough to see anything.

Here are some links of the facial reconstructions of the first two crew members, Commander George Dixon and Quartermaster Arnold Becker

They are releasing one a day to the members of the Friends of the Hunley, with the general public getting them through the press the day after they are released. I will try and remember to put the others up as I get the emails.

Here are todays events to which you can see the crew (April 13):

Good Luck....

Dread,
I am not going to the ball, as it is a formal thing and costs $80 per person. You have to dress the period to go:

Please be advised that this is a formal function.

The 27th SCVI reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who is not properly attired.

Ladies: Period Ball Gown (preferred) or floor length evening dress (optional). Women's period hair styles are also encouraged.

Gentlemen: Period military dress (CS or US), period civilian formal attire, or white tie and tails (all preferred). Black tie tuxedo (optional). Men's period hair styles are also encouraged.

No modern or period firearms or knives are permitted on the grounds of The Citadel.

Period correct dress swords with proper belt and sash are permitted.

Hobnail shoes are prohibited in the building.

As customary for the period, white gloves for ladies and gentlemen are encouraged.

Thanks for the links SC.
The reconstructions are amazing.

I would have liked to attend this saturday, but won't be able to travel.
I would love to hear your reports though.

I just finished reading about the Hunley in Cusslers, "Sea Hunters".
He does a nice piece on the Hunley in her day, followed by his teams recent search for her.
A very interesting account, for those interested.

I think that RavenC and I are going to dress "period." In fact, I may go as a Confederate officer. :D Heck, we can all dream, can't we?

im a citadel grad class of 91'. all this talk about the area is making me miss my home of 4yrs. no way i can make it this sat but reading this thread has made me really nostalgic for charleston. i really should get off my ass and take my girlfriend down for a visit. maybe after a visit to my alma mater she would better understand why i have so many issues (i'm not sure if im kidding about that). anyway, im jealous of you who can make it and hopefully you'll have the time to post a good report.

Yeah, you should get off your butt and come down here. :D

(Sorry, just trying to offer some words of encouragement.) :D

I went to a high school military academy not far from you, weekender... Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, PA.

I understand what you mean by "issues." Lol...
