My 10w HID had been getting more and more difficult to light off. Then Shane's began acting up too. Snowbear mentioned that the bulb might have worked loose. It was. We reseated both his and mine and they have been striking reliably since.

Well - may I suggest re-titling the title of this thread to Halcyon Proteus 10w HID striking solution?

I thought of that but realized more folks are drawn to a negative than a positive.
Those with the problem would no doubt look in either case. The solution... at least for us... was simple. Shane's bulb fell out when the bezel was undone it was so loose. Mine didn't appear to be loose at all but I removed and reseated it anyway and it has been golden since.
