Howdy folks,

This european is heading west -- specifically to Vancouver, BC -- for a week in early november. It's mostly for work, but there'll be a few days off with time to do "stuff". A quick look at the map reveals that there's water around Vancouver, which of course indicates a possible way to spend my time off while in Vancouver....some good "stuff" to do :D

I'll probably be based in a hotel somewhere downtown, and may have a sunday (6/11/2005) and some evenings until the 9th or 10th free.

So, any locals here, who can tell me a little about the possibilities in, or in close vincinity of Vancouver? Where do people go, is it good and so on. And, importantly, anyone looking for a buddy during the time I'll be there? :)

I'm from Denmark, originally, thus with a preference for nice, frisky waters.....

hi there,
We do indeed have some decent local diving here. Although not right downtown, there are a few sites not too far north of the city that make for good day (or night) shore dives. Whytecliff, Porteau Cove and Ansel point are some of the most popular. You could also make a trip to Vancouver Island and do the wrecks off Nanaimo, or make a trip to Victoria, but it does make for a longer day. There are several local dive shops you can contact to get additional information and rent gear from.
