I'm Peter, a new diver, and I newly joined the board. I live in Boston, just got my open water certification on a trip to Cancun, and am already looking to plan my next trip somewhere warm.
I'd love to have any and all suggestions of places to go, either locations or specific resorts, that fit most of the following criteria. This is for travel with my wife, who's very active and will snorkel a bit but has no interest in diving.
-Easy access to reef dives with good fish and coral, perhaps even on-site shore diving possibilities. Possibilities of seeing sharks, turtles, etc. would be great. I'd be going solo so would need to have other people there with whom I can buddy
-On-site snorkeling, or snorkeling that's easy to get to
-Either adults only or not overrun with kids. An older crowd is fine
-Tennis
-Exercise classes (yoga, etc.)
-Other activities possible, ideally for my wife when I'm out diving
-All-inclusive or not. If not, easy access to a reasonably interesting town. Good food, or good food options is ideal. A bit of nearby culture never hurts
-Good beaches with no or limited bugs
-Modern clean rooms
-No one bothering you on the beach
-No big problems with theft
-Reasonably priced and scheduled flights from Boston, ideally direct. Would prefer not to fly too far, so I suppose this limits us to Bermuda/the Caribbean
-We prefer nice and reasonably priced to luxurious and expensive.
All ideas welcome, whether you know them from experience or have just heard good things about them. We're up from everything from an all-inclusive where we never leave the property to renting an apartment and cooking/organizing for ourselves. Would love to have suggestions for travel any time of year.
Thanks,
Peter
