I just purchased an Abyss 22, and trying to attach to 7' hose an low and behold, the second stage is female! Any suggsetions?

Hi,
If you removed the preassembled hose and ended up with a female receptacle on the 2nd stage, you've removed too many parts. There is what's called a 2nd stage hose connector, which also contains the poppet seat and Oring which should be attached to the 2nd stage body. At this point I recommend you take this back to the authorized Mares retailer you purchased your regulator from to install your 7' hose. It is quite possible with the removal of the connector you could have adjusted the depth of the poppet seat, resulting in poor performance of the poppet. This may lead to a leaking second stage and could prove dangerous.
