A friend gave me a tank last year that he was given years ago that he thought was an LP14. I just looked at it and its definately not that, nor a 13 or 19. It's made by Luxfer, original hydro 10/02, 3AL3000. There are 2 stickers that say Draeger Safety, no idea if that's some company or Draeger rebreather. I dont recognize the valve type, the threaded portion is slightly smaller than Din, maybe be NPT?

The cylinder is about 4.4" diameter and about 14.88" tall, excluding the valve.

Ok, so I grabbed a big'ole wrench and pulled the valve. Definately a SCBA tank and valve. Now gotta decide if it's worth keeping or just scrap.

Your friend thought it was an aluminum LP tank?

Hang around tech and cave divers long enough and maybe you'll get it.
He never used it or thought about it since the day it was given to him. It was sitting amid a bunch of tanks and gear in storage. There was a label that had "14" on it. He told me I could have it and I tossed it in my gear 6 months ago and I didn't bother to read the markings til today. I thought it was a lp14 as well as it's about the right size. Never touched a scba tank before. In my ignorance, I thought they were all round bottomed.

I've never seen a Low Pressure aluminum tank. Do they exist?

medical o2 cylinders are generally 2200 psi

True. I was thinking SCUBA...

Lp14 was a 14cf aluminum scuba bottle rated at 2015psi. It was a highly sought after bottle for suit inflation 10 or more years ago and typically used with Argon. I have a few friends with them. They dont make them anymore. They're not as popular these days and hard to find.:)
