I've got a Inon D-2000 with a Canon G10 in the Canon housing. In some cases it seems OK, but in others I get complete over exposure.
I figured the easiest thing to do was to run in Av mode and use S-TTL mode. For simulated shots with a distance of about a meter or so, this seems to give a pretty good exposure in the standard S-TTL position (on the green 2.8). Actually turning it to one-half stop overexposure gives better results. Ok, all good.
Keeping the same settings and trying a simulated macro shot (10 cm or so from the subject) and what I get is completely washed out. At this point, I've angled the strobe head down to cover the subject (the aiming light is pretty much dead center). Why? I don't get this. I have the internal strobe blocked out so the D-2000 should be mimicking my internal strobe, right?
However, when I switch the strobe to "Auto" mode and set it to f/4 (what the camera is using), then I get a good macro exposure (And a noticeably smaller "pop" from the D-2000). But trying to use the same settings for my test "one meter" shot, and it comes out very underexposed.
So: "Help!" what kind of settings do people in my situation use?
Also, is "on the green 2.8" really the suggested position for S-TTL mode or is it on the "TTL" setting. I must say, the manual is nearly worthless in it's Japanese to English translation.
Thanks much,
Eric
