Hello fellow shark teeth divers,

Im an Aussie up in NC/SC only for a few days and need to find a good place for cheap hire of gear, maybe a good charter that knows successful sites, or good places to shore dive from on the Cooper river or wilmington to find shark teeth. Can anyone help me out?

Cheers,

Brett

look st http://www.divethecooper.com and call at 843-324-3141.

A very great guide and you can stay at his home. His boat is berthed less than 100 meters from the river run at Pemlico.

Brett,

I've dived with Capt. Tom a couple of times, he is well known as one of the best guides on the river. http://www.cooperriver.com/

Good luck...

You can rent gear at Charleston Scuba, they also book for Captain Tom. They're just a little south of downtown Charleston, right off the highway and easy to find.

What Smedley said or what I think is the best choice is Phil Meyers Back Water Diversions http://www.backwaterdiversions.com. Dive atmosphere is friendly and he doesn't keep telling you how good he is in order to convince you of the fact.

I met Phil and he is really a down-to-Earth guy. Has a wealth of knowlege about the history of the river. I also went out with Topper and he has a large and comfortable boat. He is a conscientious guide and he, too, is personable and accomodating.

I mentioned Mark because as an out of stater his lodging arrangement is inexpensive and comfortable. He also takes you to some great sites.

Ah heck - let's admit it - they're all good. I wanna go now!!

Thanks everyone for that great and quick response, I emailed Capt. Tom and he is out of town, I have found a private operator to go with, and will let you know how it went.

Hey thanks, all. I am digging around for a Cooper operator as well and now I have a few good options. I may wait another month or two - I notice a few folks are wearing drysuits. What are the temps like?
