"...are they truly experienced enough to be an OW instructor?" Sure they are! Because, "...the age or experience of the person giving advice shouldn't matter."

Now, I fully realize that this is picking nits to a ridiculous degree, and that there's a huge difference between "giving advice" and "be[coming] an OW instructor".

Maybe it has to do with the point of view; when you said, "...the age or experience of the person giving advice shouldn't matter." you were talking about yourself giving advice to the OP, not about the OP becoming an OW instructor.

Like I said before, I think you and I agree about the essence of your argument. It just seemed like a logical error to me, and I pointed it out even though I knew that doing so would expose myself as a super-geek. Sorry.
