Hi,

A few weeks ago, somebody mentioned a good shop in the UK. It was either a dive shop where people are good photographers or a photo shop where people dove.

I am on a last minute trip over to London (from Paris) this weekend and I want to look at Macro lenses.

Anybody remember where this place was?

Thanks!

Ocean Optics are the only underwater photography shop I know of in London. They can be found inside Ocean Leisure, closest tube Embankment. Ocean Optics no longer sell any Sea & Sea stock though.

The only other places I know of in the uk are Cameras Underwater ( http://www.camerasunderwater.co.uk ) who are always very helpful and knowledgeable over the phone and Allan James photography ( http://www.marine-cameras.com ) who I have never tried dealing with.

oceanoptics are crap, i phoned them and they said they don't deal with ikelite any more as they are rubish, they dont deal with sea and sea any more as they are also rubbish, and they don't do epoque.

me: "so what lenses and strobes do you do for digital cameras?"

oo: "oh you can have the olympus WAL £300"

me: "what about inon?"

oo: "don't do them either"

me: "i'm not paying £300 for WAL when i can get 1 for £200!"

oo: "ok thanks buy"

my opinion: they are a waste of space, they don't deal with the major suppliers, so what is the point of running the shop?

stick with camerasunderwater!

OceanOptics was fine by me! They were very friendly. True, they couldn't help with my problem (I'm beginning to think my old housing won't take micro lenses), but they did try and I ended up spending an hour gabbing with them.

Better than my tour of Buckingham Palace 2 hours later!

Anyway, I'm off tomorrow am for diving in Spain!

Take care and thanks again for all the advice!
