Congrats on certification!

If you like kelp dive, try Monterey Bay breakwater by Monterey Bay Aquarium. There're abundant kelp in 1999 when I got certified there. Seemed no way out after ascending, got to form a line following the instructor. Dive knife sure came handy that time.

Welcome to the board and congratulations on getting your open water certificatioin. Now the fun, and learning begins.

If you are looking to dive in the Malibu to Laguna Beach area the http://www.sandeaters.org is the ticket. They are not a club, but are a webiste that schedules a dive everyweek on Sunday at 0800 a.m. They do a night dive about once a month on Saturday night (you should wait a bit on that until you are more confortable with your skills, particularly navigation) too. Ocasionaly they will schedule a San Diego, Catalina or Ventura dive just for variety.

They are a great group. I try to dive in the Malibu to Laguna area at least once a week. I try to go to church on Sunday, so I often arrange a dive with someone else. The sandeaters has a nice e-mail chain where you can send out a dive request and usally get a partner for a dive.
