Hydraulic testing will not reveal sustained load cracking in 6351 alloy cylinders unless the cylinder actually fails structurally during the test.

Eddy current testing is the correct protocol for all 6351 alloy cylinders. Eddy current testing is unnecessary on alloy cylinders made from other aluminium alloys such as 6061.

Luxfer USA had stopped using 6351 in scuba cylinders by 1989.
