I wonder how deep this is and what it contains?

a nother idea has popped up. Why not start a little stick fire on the ice and let it melt thru yu can even get a small metal drum and start the fire in it to contain the fire and it may melt thru like the 55 gal drum people used to fire up on an ice skating lake years ago near were I live.

I am going to have to say it only goes down 6ft, but on the side near the bottom there happens to be a little hole. When one ventures through the hole it will open up into 3600ft of cave with a max depth of about 150ft. Of course Green Manelishi may not notice this little hole on the side so he may just see the shallow depth and give up. Besides, it would take a vary small person no mounting it to get inside.

Interesting location for a cistern...right in the middle of a clump of trees. Obviously, the trees could have grown up around it since it was built. Is there any sign of a house or old foundation anywhere close? It doesn't look like it is located in such a way to catch runoff, so I'm thinking it needed a roof structure close by to catch and funnel water. Maybe an old seep or spring that was walled up?

You know, Green, a friend of mine that used to do a lot of ice fishing told me that you can put a portable fish-finder in a bucket of water, set it on the ice, and it will see right through. That should give you a pretty clear picture of the depth and shape of your hole.

Know anyone with a portable fish finder?

There is a small concrete slab quite close to the cistern but it is not apparent what it might have been.

do it easy:
If and when you dive it, just make sure you are prepared!

Hey! I think I know this place. Is it in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door?

Is there is a small mailbox here?

With a leaflet inside????

:rofl3:

The fact there are trees visible in the picture would indicate it's not an open field.

I know there is something to your questioning, perhaps a movie?, but I am not sure what is your point.

My opinon is let me dive it with a commercial hate and surface coms. LOL Let me know what you find out

No point. Just another arcane reference for the purpose of entertainment, triggered by your description of the slab next to the cistern. Like "you'll shoot your eye out". Sorry it missed you, but I am sure at least a few others will get it.

Feel free to ignore it, I won't be offended :D
