Today I was snorkelling at Ft. Wetherill, RI in search of tropicals and I found a small fish I couldn't ID even after looking at my books and keys after coming home. I hate trying to ID juvenile fish 
Brief Description:
Bass-shaped, lateral stripe or blotches making a stripe brown-black, ground color light tannish white-brown. I didn't see any over 3".
NOT a cunner to the best of my knowledge, there were plenty of those around.
I enjoyed watching these small fish because they are VERY aggressive. They were attacking everything that invaded thier space no matter how large (except me
). On my last snorkel of the day I saw one that had swallowed a baby lobster nearly as long it was tail first. It was swimming around with the lobster claws hanging out of it's mouth, it was hilarious!
