I'm currently using a GoPro Hero 5 for my underwater shots. But I'm constantly looking to improve overall output and quality. Lots of talk that a GoPro Hero6 is better. Below is a video I shot recently with a Hero 5. Can a Hero 6 improve on it?

I'm curious. In that video are you using lights, red filter, what depth? Or are you editing the color back in? I'm in the market for anew camera and am considering a new GoPro or the Paralenz. The latter doesn't require any filters as it digitally compensates for color loss based on a depth pressure sensor built into the camera.I'm currently using a GoPro Hero 5 for my underwater shots. Hi Macan,
I hesitate to reply because I don't have a Hero 6, but I would be very surprised if there was a night and day difference between the 5 and 6. Actually, yours is definitely one of the better GoPro underwater videos I've seen, because you seem to have found a way to get a decent amount of colour (filters/editing?). It would be even better if you had a Pana GH5 in a Nauticam housing (like I do!), it's just that that would be several kilos and several thousand dollars more. Save your money... at least till the GoPro Hero7 comes out!
All throughout the video it looks choppy for me. I'm not sure how I could demonstrate that other than recording my monitor with a cell phone. Also, it seems that some people see the video just fine. That last bit surprises me, as you would think something is wrong with my pc. However I watch youtube videos frequently every day at a variety of resolutions and this is first video I've seen with the type of glitching I am seeing.Hi Kelemvor,
I don’t have your expertise, would you please détail your answer when you said :
« Your video seems to have some kind of glitching going on. «
At what time or position do you see a « glitch »?
I Thank you in advance for your answer…(sorry for my poor English)
Regards
I'd like to see your videos with that paralenz. That color correction sounds pretty cool, but usually digital retouching like that is not as good as an actual filter.I think the issue is YouTube as it plays fine for me.
It appears after doing some research the 6 is a little better underwater. It favors blue more than green and the contrast is a little better. You still need a light and/or filter to capture color at depth so I'm leaning toward the Paralenz. I have a birthday coming up soon and if I don't receive it as a gift I plan on purchasing it and will do some comparisons both here in the Gulf and down in Key Largo next month.
