Just one point about AZ and clots. There is a lot od confusion and missunderstanding, and some people, including scientist have commented without the complete facts.
Germany's PEI has found that while the rate of thrombosis as a whole is not concerning. However, there is a very special and rare type called Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in combination with thrombocytopenia. Prevalence of this is 1:1 million; as of 18.3. there are 7 reported cases with 3 deaths which occured 4 to 16 days after vaccination with AZ. Only 1.5 million doses where administered at that point, so we are at 4-5 : 1 million, which is significant higher than expected. In addition, all cases occured in women between 20 and 50. PEI is not known for being "alarmist"; as a matter of fact last week when other countries started pulling AZ they issued a statement of "no concern" but they did convey an emergency specialist panel on Monday morning and issued their statement later that day. To the best of my knowledge, the cases in Austria, Norway and Denmark are of the same typ.
Current working hypothesis is that the cases are in fact caused by AZ but that the risk is not evenly distributed; one possible (and some of us think highly probable) outcome of todays EMA meeting is that AZ will temporarily be blocked for women of child bearing age. We will see.
