OK it is time to renew my dive insurance. I know that there is PADI and DAN, but i know there are a couple other companies out there. Who are they? I can't seem to find the thread that named a few of the other companies with the search option.

There's also Dive Assure. When it comes time to renew in November, I'm going to switch from DAN as there are too many reports of the insurance not being honored.

I was also thinking of possibly switching from dan, but am not sure. Just weighing all the options this year.

Haven't heard anything about DAN being refused in Europe, have heard about a couple of situations in the staes and i think there was some threat or form of litigation due to this. Is this what you are referring to when you are talking about refusals, or have you heard about such incidents outside the USA?

CDNN reported refusals to honor in the Bahamas and it is my understanding that at least one of the chambers in Cozumel requires a $10,000 credit card charge if you have DAN instead of PADI or Dive Assure.

Dropped DANs underwriter a long time ago. Too big a pain to get things on the list... didnt understand customer service. I went with DEPP

I've got DAN and I'm very happy with them. I've used the hotline a few times for dive emergencies and always found them to be prompt, courteous and knowlegeable. I'm willing to give them my money so they can continue to service the entire diver population.

The most recent report that I heard is that DAN is being accepted everywhere.
