How far off the coast do you guys typically go?

Also, do any of you use your kayaks for recreational paddling?

It kinda depends on the dive site, but most of the sites in my area(Sarasota) are within a 1/2 mile of shore. I have paddled farther to dive back in Texas when we paddled 2-3 miles to dive oil platforms. I do sometimes paddle for fun on the Myyaka river and in Sarasota bay.

Been diving the rivers in north Fl and paddling same rivers, Been diving with Dkramer one time, very cool, about 1/2 mile off of Venice. Can't wait for the great weather thats almost here, maybe this coming weekend.

Well, I'm on spring break this week. I can't start laying my floor til Wednesday soooooo................... I think I'll head to Alhambra tomorrow & check out a secret spot that Nizzy told me about. If anyone is off & would like to join me, give a shout!

My favorite spot is marked in my handheld GPS as .67 miles off Fort Lauderdale.

Yes! And I've fished from it once, plan to do that more in the future.

3 miles is a big paddle if the wind or current is going the wrong way.
