I have an opportunity to buy a well loved/used Meg 2.7 with Shearwater secondary display and Meg HUD.

Are the Meg 2.7 units still worth purchasing or will I end up stuck with an obsolete unit that I need to throw $6K at to upgrade to a Tib head?…(and in that case be better off just buying a new unit or different unit for a couple extra grand.)

I’m unaware of how the 2.7 electronics age?

Ive heard the electronics on the 2.7’s are more stable than the 15’s, is this true?

This would be my first unit with the intention of diving it how it is (after training) for at least two years before considering upgrading the head.

Any advice I can get will better help me make my decision, thank you!

Roughly how much is the deal for the Meg 2.7? Because it might not just be a “couple extra grand” as there was recently a price increase on the Meg15. The base price for a new Tiburon is now $12K + tax — add another $1K + tax if you want the Minnow counterlungs or the BOV (if that’s your preference).

I have no experience on the Meg2.7 but did recently order a Meg15 and the total $$$ was much higher than I expected (ended up at over $14.5k just for the unit - no training).

Roughly how much is the offer for the Meg 2.7?

The guy my friend knows is willing to let it go for $3,800 ready to dive with 2x3L steel tanks and whatever spare parts he has saved up.

When I asked why he was selling it’s because he has a couple other backmount units and has plans to do more cave diving with his sidewinder.

The 2.7 is still a good unit and tried and true after all these years. but $3800 IMO is a bit high for what it is. Id shoot closer to 2-3.2k

What shearwater is it? the predator or the petrel.

I'll oiggyback on this thread.

There's a unit for sale locally in Norway for ~2300$. It needs new cells and pressure testing if bottles.

Radial scrubber, "Tiger mounts" and front mounted lungs.

Would this be a unit to consider as first CCR.
My "target" would be to regulary do ~70-80 meter dives. Been considering rEvo, JJ and Meg.

I did buy one in Norway and I inqured on that particular unit you posted. I found one with a petrel and had it shipped to the us. In great condition. P

A local.guy was extremely kind and helped me out.

Norway does have a good selection of meg's that can be found really reasonable.

May I ask if there was any particular showstoppers on this one? Or if you just found a better deal? :)

Don't forget that if you dive a Meg you also have to spend a fair amount on Meg sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, underwear...
That's what it seems like in the UK anyway, might be different elsewhere

I think I found a better deal, but there may have been other factors. Pm me if you'd like 👍. That is an active add and I don't want to throw conjecture around.
