Man ... I have a bunch of them that we used for hanging plant posts off my eaves!! My wife wouldn't even consider letting them go.
 
If you wish to make your own, purchase some lengths of 3/16 SS rod. I found some on EBay for making wire buckles for my rubber weight belts and, or course, pull rods. You need a strong steel vise and some steel pipe or similar for bending the rod in a true arc. It is better to make your own because those pull rods which are available vary in dimensions and shape. For example, the forward pulling SP valve takes a "reverse" pull rod.
