Hi!

Can anyone help me?
I'm trying to decide where to go, either to Jamacia or Brazil. Me and my boyfriend love to scuba dive and nature.
Which is best for diving??

I intend to go from the 10th to the 28th of December. Do you hav any idea what the water temp is like then?
If we travel to Brazil we will arrive in Sao Paulo but I'm thinking about catch a plane staight away to Rio de Janeiro, I've heard so many good things about that place.

At that time of year you will get about 22C-23C in south eastern Brazil ranging to 29C up in the northeast.
In the state of Rio de Janeiro you could try Angra dos Reis / Ilha Grande to the south and Arraial do Cabo and Buzios to the north.
Moving up the coast in the direction of the northeast you could look at Guarapari and Abrolhos.
Up in the northeast the high points are Recife and Noronha.

In Recife I recommend Projeto Mar. See:

This is a page with some operators in the state of Rio:

I went out with True Blue in Buzios last weekend, no problems.

Hi! I've just booked tickets to Jamaica but after all the negative things I've heard about diving there I'm starting to feel that I made a bad choice. Saying that I'm not only going there to dive but I don't want it to be bad diving either.

If you're going to the Ocho Rios area, the diving is ok. A tad expensive, 45.00 per boat dive when I was there. I definately recommend taking the Jeep Safari to the Garden. Had a great time.

As for the diving, there is a Canyon about 150', some drift diving, some wrecks, and of course coral. It's no Bahamas, but it's nice. They do not make a direct effort to maintain the reefs like many other Caribean locations. I enjoyed myself, just wish shore diving had been allowed, but considering the reef went out about a 1/4 mile, I can understand why they didn't allow it.

I just got back from 10 days of diving at Negril, Jamaica. The reefs are in very good shape and the water was very clear except for the day after a big rain. Wildlife was good -- many rays, turtles, octopi, reef squid, puffers, morays, etc. Got a great pic of a huge green moray! I hear Negril area (western JM) is much better diving that Ocho and the north shore but that is always subject to opinion. You can't beat the nightlife in Negril. Have fun!!

Rio de janeiro is amazing!! My husband & I visited last November & it was a beautiful city. We got around on learning a few Portuguese words & phrases. Stayed on Ipanema Beach. Rio is beautiful. Definately worth a trip!
