It’s been a long time coming, but we’re happy to (finally!) announce that our Jobs4Divers scuba diving jobs website is now “feature complete” and open for business.
The website, which is the public face of Aquanauts’ in-house job placement company, actually launched its debut version about 10 days ago, but we wanted to make sure things were bug-free (as much as possible) before announcing it to the world.
We have some pretty high standards for website design around here and by our own admission Jobs4Divers.com is not very pretty. “Functional” would be a more appropriate adjective, but now that the site has all its debut features in place and is (as far as we can tell) bug free, we’re going to work on prettying things up. You will see small changes all throughout this month until we’re satisfied with the look of the pages.
Looks, however, have little to do with what the site does and on that front, it’s pretty impressive. We believe Jobs4Divers.com, even in its current 1.09 version, is the most technologically advanced job site for the dive industry and soon we’ll be setting to work on version 2.0 to add in all the things necessity forced us to drop just to get the 1.0 version out there door!
Job Seeker Features
For job seekers, Jobs4Divers.com offers complete rich-text editing creation and editing of resumes and cover letters. You can upload your photo to go with your resume, as well.
Once your resume is in the system, employers will be able to find and contact you directly through the online Jobs 4 Divers Message Center, an integrated private messaging system. You can also send messages directly to employers in the system.
Perhaps the most exciting feature is our Intelligent Job Matching engine that automatically recommends ideal jobs for you. It matches your resume against the profiles and job listings of employers in the system and, if enough of the data matches, places those jobs on the screen for you to apply for. Obviously, it will take time for jobs to get in the system for this to work to its full potential, but we’re excited at the possibilities.
Finally, once you apply for your job you can track the status of your application. Say goodbye to applying and then waiting, waiting and waiting some more. Now you can see if it has been read or (gasp!) deleted by the employer.
Employer Features

Employers can, however, register as many job openings as they like at no charge until the 2.0 version is done. (After that, there will be free and paid versions.) As an employer you can upload your logo, set up a Company Profile that tells everyone exactly what types of employees you’re looking for. If you have more than one person doing the recruiting, each employee can have his/her own profile.
Another page lets employers manage and update all their job listings, as well as their job applicants. They also have their own Message Center, which enables employers to directly contact job seekers without giving away their e-mail addresses.
Special Benefits for Aquanauts Interns
While Jobs 4 Divers is a separate, subsidiary company from Aquanauts and will be providing a service to anyone with an Internet connection, Aquanauts professional dive training students get special benefits.
First, any job posted to Jobs4Divers.com is only available to current and previous Aquanauts instructor and Divemaster interns for the first 48 hours, giving them a leg up on any job openings.
Second, and this is what sets the Jobs 4 Divers operation apart from other training centers, we have a full-time staff here in Pattaya that has built an offline database of 6,600+ dive centers around the world. Our staff will be helping our interns get their resumes online and then can query the offline database to find jobs that might not be listed on the website.
We began this Jobs4Divers.com project a year ago and expected to have it finished in 3 months. Nothing in the tech world ever goes as planned, however. We never dreamed it would take a year and the final product is less ambitious than we originally sketched out. (Such is the nature of 1.0 software development!).
We are, however, 100% committed to real job placement for our interns and, hopefully, can build a solid business that everyone in the scuba diving industry can take advantage of.
