In my book there is no such thing as boat achored or moored diving while drift diving in S.E. Florida. We always dive in two group teams, i.e. 2 up, 2 down...

I guess you don't do much wreck diving, Val.

With all due respect, your book is wrong. I dive "on the hook" quite often Val.

I guess 35+ charter operators in PBC have it wrong as well. I have never seen one anchor onto a dive site other wreck diving. Once again, Broward, Dade and the Keys in a different matter...

I fail to see what's wrong with someone diving from an anchored or moored boat if that's their preference. I would just add that if you're anchoring be careful where you toss your anchor, they can do some pretty serious damage to the reef and as stated already in this thread, always have someone in the boat that knows how to operate it, currents around here can sneak up on you pretty quickly making it very difficult to swim back to the boat.

Onespeed,
Very well said.

My bad Val. I was talking about Broward, the current definitely picks up the farther north you get.

No worries. It was a difficult question to answer given the varied conditions of the territory he referenced. Have a great weekend!
