captains license I know about, and thank you for responding (seriously), but what if I'm their guide during the dive do I not need some type of certification for it or is that only if someone is trying to certify divers?

You'd need to be a certified (and insured) divemaster. However, if you were also the captain of the vessel I suspect you would need to stay on board, so you could not be the guide and the captain on the same trip.

I also think you would quickly discover that financially, you would want to be able to offer certifications, nitrox classes, specialty dives, and discover scuba dives. With rare exceptions you would need to be a licensed instructor to perform those duties.
