How's diving at Kona around beginning of March? Is the ocean rough?
Thanks

Water is about the coolest it will be all year (74-76 deg). Trade winds most days keep the wind impact on diving to very minimal. Winter swell can be substantial; swell can only be predicted a few days out and may make shore diving difficult. Day boats will generally run in all but the biggest swell and night boats (manta) will run in medium to medium-big swell.

March is still whale season! There really isn't any bad time to dive in Kona.

Thank you! by the way, does the moon phase affect much of hawaii diving? I heard some places it does, but some places it doesn't.
