I always carry-on my laptop whenever I fly. In its case, it fits nicely into a backpack -- I don't like the idea of carrying it in hand.

My regulator rig and mask in box (irreplaceable corrective lenses) fit in the pack too, just. Makes for a pretty heavy pack, but hey...

Over here in Europe, we're not subject to TSA, for better or worse. Thankfully, they've never made me take out my laptop and turn it on, or stuff like that. But going through the security screening at Warsaw Airport a couple weeks ago, they did ask me to take the regulator out of the pack and send it through the machine separately from the laptop, still in the pack. I guess they knew what a laptop looked like on their screen, and didn't want the regulator confusing the image.

The Egyptians didn't care, on the way back.
