Hi all, I'll be land-locked in Las Vegas for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. One of my non-diving friends mentioned that one of the casinos with a large aquarium will let certified divers dive & feed the fish. The only problem was that he couldn't remember the name of the resort. Do any of you know about this slightly odd, but kindof cool diving oportunity?

thanks!

I wish I knew and I would tell you. I have a couple of divers listed in Arizona on my site. You might email them because you would think they would know. Hope they do cause that would be a cool dive I imagine!

P.S. Security will probably extracate you from the casino if you sit at a blackjack table in your scuba gear dripping wet!

Funny Syruss! A few years ago I saw an issue of Dive Training that was spotlighting diving in Nevada & the cover showed a diver at a slot machine in full gear. It was a crackup!

But of course how do you think I found about security not liking this, it jst so happens that a reporter got the picture before I got the boot hehehhehehe.

Just kiddin, I have not had my moment of fame yet!

The resort is Mandalay Bay. I know they were trying to get this started, but I do not know anyone that has done it yet. However, there is diving in Lake Mead if you're not a CAD, like me.

Hey, if you're ever at Epcot at Disney World sign up to dive the Living Seas. It's an interesting tour of Epcot's aquatic facilities and a dive in their aquarium! It's rather expensive for a 30 minute (or so) dive but it was really cool! I still think the best part was waving at the tourists! You can see into the restaurant and the area where the monorail goes through as well as into the viewing areas for the aquarium.

Just my two cents! Let us know if Mandalay Bay lets you dive, isn't DEMA in Las Vegas this year? I can't remember.

There is a girl here in Dallas that is doing that dive Ber, I haven't heard back from her to see how it went. I told her to take lots of pics and give me a good dive report. I almost forgot till I read your post. I will have to email her and get the scoup.

She was really excited about going and had I not been going to St. Thomas while she was going there I would have been way jealous!

Yes, DEMA is in Las Vegas in 2002. Should be an interesting week.

The Scripps Aquarium here in San Diego is also preparing to open up a portion of the aquarium for a diving experience. I think they are planning on charging $350 for a 45 min dive, and you have to use their equipment. At least, that was the case the last time I heard anything about it. If anyone knows any additional info, let me know.

Definitely let us know about the experience if you do get to dive Mandalay Bay.
