Heading there later January and staying near 2 step, looking forward to getting back in the warm water. Did you rent tanks at Jacks?
Booties and fins or swim fins no booties? My recollection is that lots of sharp lava rock, so was going to bring short booties.

I rented tanks from a place in Kailua-Kona (something "Shore Divers"?) since that's the area we were staying. I'd definitely wear boots for most shore entries in Hawaii.
