LDS Honesty.... ?

So I had been talking to my LDS about a potential trip they are offering to Saba at the end of the year. Well my wife and I are looking at other options, including a live aboard on the Turks & Caicos Aggressor.

I mention the live abord to my LDS and he goes back and "checks availability" and then notes that they have no availability for the week I am requesting (i.e. Dec '06). So the next day, I call Aggressor directly and am able to make the reservation as we are currently the only two on the charter.

What gives... are we being blatently lied to? I hate to think so, because I actually like the LDS.

well... it doesn't look good, does it?

it is *possible* that he mistankenly checked the wrong date, and that was
full... or perhaps he checked with the wrong outfit for the right week, and
that was full ...it is also possible that he lied to you to get you to sign up

but... he must have known that you would check, right? a pretty stupid
lie if a phone call can catch them at it

i generally tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, so i would probably
chalk it up to the wrong date or wrong outfit being checked

I've had similar things happen when trying to book trips. I was told by one resort there was no room. My wife calls a couple of days later and there is plenty of room.

It's fun to travel with a shop since usually you're diving with friends. But we've had a blast just going on our own too.

other than being lied to, im thinking maybe the agressor thought the LDS was enquiring about booking in a group, not just 2 divers.

lol... well, calling someone a liar is a pretty serious deal to me, so i
try not to do it unless the evidence is pretty firm

I generally give people the benefit of the doubt as well... call me a sucker. I doubt that it will change my shopping at the LDS (we are going to Cozumel with them next week, and we have gotten some good deals) but I hate having to second guess them and wonder.

It has also been suggested elsewhere that they would rather book directly than through an agent, because it puts more money directly in their pocket. I have no personal knowledge of that, however it does seem very possible to me.

I see these types of posts here now and again, and I ask myself WHY OHH WHY does the poster NOT discuss this with the LDS? Like anyone here is going to KNOW if you are getting lied to by the LDS?

So you have two choices... ask them what gives.. or do nothing...

Unless he checked for the first week of December 06, then he lied to you.
Looks like they have space on all their December trips excpet
that first week.
