Patrick is a lot of fun...that same store has Skip....also a bunch of fun and good instructor!!!

Yes, I got my cert from a LDS here in Gilbert....

Hi, Kris....I remember when you were getting your DM....you helped in a couple of my classes for Master Scuba Cert....I know you would have been a lot of fun and an excellent Instructor for those wanting there DM certs....

Back to the subject.... I will say that I know many of the Instructors at Sports Chalet and they are not only my friends but also excellent Instructors.... If that is were you want to get your training go right on and do it.... I got my EFR Instructor training from Dean Cutler a PADI course Director form Sports Chalet....He was very good....

Also we are getting a group together for Friday the 22nd....several of us are meeting at 4:30-5:00 for a day dive...then we are doing a dusk dive, and a night dive...yes 3 tanks.... we are going to have a great time...we will be meeting at Vista Point....Join us!!!!
Ron,

Thanks for the heads up, I going to try to make it for at least one tank....I saw the map and directions on the other thread.

Thanks!

That is great!!! Looking forward to seeing you there!!!! :)

How come I never hear any mention of Tres Aquas at 7th st. & Union Hills? They seem to be a good shop with good people working there! They offer DM classes as well as many others.

I don't know that much about them...as I am so far from there being in south Gilbert....but I think they are a good shop!!! I had a few choices closer to me and as much work as you have to do it is just nicer to be closer!!

I had been in there a few times and have actually purchased a few items from them and took a course, actually our OW course was through GCC and Tres Aquas provided the equipment for the class.

Our overall impression was that as a whole they were not too interested in getting to know new divers, we were in there several times and got that impression over time, that's why we went to Oasis, my wife especially liked Amy, she was friendly, helpful and seemed genuinely interested in us not just as divers but as people.

Of course, Tres Aquas had just switched locations and could have been preoccupied with the move. I also thought their pricing was a little high, but at the same time there are a couple of divers over there we like, I'm not sure who the instructors are, I think Dale is one.

Anyway, it's a good thought, I had somewhat forgot about them, perhaps I'll head over there and say hello! Perhaps I'll get a completely different impression, it's been well over a year since I've been in there.

Thanks!

Thanks!

My experience is the opposite, I've only been there 1X so maybe I caught a good day,
I was driving down the street and saw the shop as I drove by, and had never heard of their shop before I visited.

I walked in and the guy that was there was really nice, told me about all the classes and trips they were working on, and asked if I wanted to be on their mailing list.. seemed like he really wanted my business.

That shop is out of my way (I live in mesa/gilbert area) and they probably wont get any of my business, unless I happen to be in that area and decide I need something, but I would suggest a stop-in for folks that live up North.

As far as the prices go....Welcome to Scuba hahahah all the prices are a little stupid.

Good to hear, like I said, it's been well over a year since I stopped by but will stop by soon!

For sure SCUBA takes some $'s.....but it's worth it......as from shop to shop some are just higher than others....one shop wants $800 for DM and the other wants $325.....that's what I meant about a little higher....I meant in relation to other shops I've checked on.....that being said...it's understandable that some either have more overhead or they're trying to make more profit....but of course....then again.....some may get it because they're worth it?

We'll check in on them!

Thanks!

I don't know about their DM training but I've always found Scuba Specialties to be an honest, reliable operation. And they have a pool. Frankie and Steven are good people. Kendall too, I just don't run into her much any more.

Since you're PADI, Scuba Sciences is out...

Hi Sjspeck and everyone:

That is not true...any certified diver is welcome at Scuba Sciences! A certified diver from any agency should be able to continue their diving education and training with any other store & agency.

In the 13 years that I have been with Scuba Sciences I have seen divers from many different agencies (PADI, NAUI, SDI, GUE, TDI, YMCA, LA County and some European agencies) re-take classes, take new courses, or take a dive trip with us. If they have completed a class with us, they will be dual certified (as their original certifications are still valid) and their new c-cards will be either ANDI and/or SSI depending on the course.

In fact, we have a Dive Control Specialist / Assistant Instructor Course starting on September 11th. I will be working with this class and am excited about it. We have a lot to teach the Dive Control Candidates! We have some neat classes and training coming this fall including working with Hyperbaric Doctors, Lifeguards, Physical training and more!
