This thread is for actual doing bounce dives, if you have bounce dive experience in this style of diving, please bring your bounce dive experience dives to this thread for divers to actually know how to achieve these dives.
The actual dive is no more than when you decided to do a deep dive, you got to depth that you planned, then ascended to the surface. This when you seen that air is used up a bit more then at a less depth. You need to have a steep drop, or down an ascent line, after your bounce dive experience has you comfortable, you can free fall to the bottom and ascend to the surface(blue water ascent).
The actual attraction of this diving is to go take a peak without having all the extra gear, and deco obligation. Also you can do a few of these dives in a short time, and see what is down there that may interest you in spending more time there and doing a deco dive.
Obviously your dive experience is where you decide to start a bounce dive at a depth that will give you enough gas to accomplish this dive. The 200' bounce on a single cylinder has been the normal practice for over 50 years, the al80 has been used cause thats what most warm water dive operations have on hand, nowadays, there is a better selection in sizes.
An Instructor Is a teacher and is always willing to learn knowledge, Knowledge of bounce diving is pretty brief, once you have been through the basics of the dive procedure. Experience is what is needed to achieve the goal in a deeper depth bounce diving.
You can spend a amazing amount of money in classes and equipment to go to deeper depths, bounce diving has been the fastest way for you to get the anticipation of deep dives over with, so you know if you want to continue in a technical diving path.
When you travel, like now the luggage and air fare is spendy, to haul all that gear to do some technical diving is a pain and also cost a lot of money when doing so. The bounce dive is an option on your dive trip, that will require no extra gear.
The diver ascends as fast as they are comfortable and can equalize, then when the target depth has been met, take 30 seconds and look around then ascend, follow you computer, or depth gauge, when you are at a comfortable depth finish your dive until air is at the bottom you want to surface with. If you want to make another bounce dive, skip the shallower dive until the 2nd or 3rd dive so your Surface Interval will be shorter.
Bounce diving is experience in doing the dives, you will retain more knowledge as you progress to deeper depths.
