I just found this article about getting fit and getting strong leg muscles, to make diving easier.

They suggest swimming at the pool with fins on, which is nothing new.

What intrigues me is the suggestion for overcoming boredom. This is something I tried years ago, when I used to do a lot of lap swimming - listening to a radio while swimming.

When I tried it, there was static every time I moved I lifted my head to breathe.

Now, there's a much better idea!!

Here's what the article says: (they is Aquasphere )

"They've invented the FM snorkel. The Aqua FM uses unique bone conduction technology that allows the user to listen to their favourite radio station while swimming or snorkelling." .....

"Completely safe, simply put the mouthpiece in and bite down. The sound is conducted through the teeth and into the inner ear providing clear, amazing sound."

Sounds great to me!!!

I found one of them on the Net, although I don't know where you can buy them!

It's only Waterproof to 10 meters (33 feet) so not much good for free diving!

Hi Julieanne,

Just thought you might want to know that there are several waterproof MP3 players available. Where I swim I occasionally see a guy using one.

Thanks 3Dent. I tried one out years ago, and it didn't work very well at all!

So, I was hoping someone here might have used this particular one, and could tell me first hand how it works. They're a GREAT idea for swimming laps!!

Theres one on the market now called a Swim-P3 (sp?). I don't know anyone who's tried it. Sounds like a good idea. Nothing worse than getting that $%#@# drum solo from In-a-gadda-da-vida stuck in your head in the middle of your swim.

h2oaudio makes a housing for the Ipod I've been considering:

I'm waiting for them to come out with a case for the Ipod Shuffle, tho, since it's only $100 and it wouldn't be a big deal if it flooded.
