Divers found a dead diver on Lake Werbellinsee (Barnim) on Tuesday afternoon. This is reported by the East Police Department. The woman is a 60-year-old from Berlin who was found floating lifeless in the water. An alert emergency doctor could only determine that the woman was dead.

Police are investigating the cause of death

The 60-year-old had apparently been in the water for a long time. She was wearing full neoprene diving gear. Apparently she was traveling alone, as no one was reported missing so far. Officers also found a car registered to the woman on the shore of the lake.
The police have now launched a death investigation to determine the cause of death. Criminal investigators and water police officers were still on site until the afternoon.
The Dornbusch at Werbellinsee is the most visited diving spot in Barnim. At a depth of almost 40 meters there are two wrecks of sunken transport barges. Exactly three years ago, at the end of January 2021, two experienced divers also died at this very spot. The couple had dived to a depth of 34 meters and were unable to make the minute-long climb because of an empty diving tank.
