Was the SK8 available 12 years ago? I got my SK7 about seven years ago, and I'm pretty certain the SK8 wasn't available here at that time

My bad... it's probably an SK7 then. I haven't noticed any cosmetic differences between mine and the new ones, but I haven't really looked either.

My compass has worked fine for six years, but I also don't have 1,000 - 2,999 dives under my belt.

Is it wrong of me that I mentally read the thread title as:

Love:Hate relationship with Canada.

Totally subconscious.

I have always used an analog compass. I recently bought a Teric and had the floating compass mark active on my recent trip to Mexico. For my purposes, that may be all I really need. I may ditch my analog compass on my next trip to Florida, though I may initially feel naked without it.

Kind of how I have been feeling since I purchased my Perdix. Still getting used to using the compass on it and just have such a long history with my handheld Suunto's.

The compass on my Icon is way too sensitive. I bought a wrist analog compass with a huge side window and absolutely love it.

They SK-8's are a but more delicate... I removed the bezel and put in a piece of clear plastic cut to fit under the bezel to protect it. I believe I've lost three but with this mod I have not lost another. They are my favorite compass.

Use the clear plastic from a plastic cup... The window area doesn't need to be protected.

The Icon digital compass is next to useless IMHO. I have a classic wetnote conversation on one dive where we got horribly lost and were arguing about how to get back. We worked out that the wifes Icon and mine, which we'd checked pre-dive were now pointing about 90deg out from each other.

Fingers crossed the Perdix works better.
