I've always thought my mouth was pretty ordinary - at least that's what my girlfiriend tells me (that's a joke), however I think I'd like to replace my mouthpiece with one that is longer. My reg is a Zeagle Convoy deluxe - not the hearviest second stage, but far from the lightest. I'd keep the Zeagle mouthpiece and use it as a backup.

It looks like it is held on only with a zip strap. Do I just cut the strap and put on a new one?

What kind of mouthpieces are most popular? Short/Long; custom (e.g., SeaCure)?

Steve,
The mouthpiece fits very snugly onto your reg, then it's secured by a zip tie. If you buy the mouthpiece from your LDS, I'm sure they'd be happy to put it on for you. Otherwise, it's not a difficult thing to do: it's exactly as you suspect: secure the mouthpiece with the zip tie, pull it tight, then snip off the excess.

I love my SeaCure! You can't beat biting down on what's essentially a mouth guard: no jaw fatigue. Just be sure to read the back of the package to ensure you buy the right one for the Convoy.

:)

Go the "SeaCure" route, you'll never regret it.

I'll second the SeaCure. My reg (Oceanic Zeta) came with a mouthpiece that was very thick and always left me with jaw fatigue. Since switching to the SeaCure, I've had no problems at all--like Scubagirl15 says, it's like biting down on a custom mouth guard. For the Zeagle, I believe you'll need the SeaCure II--just double check before you buy it. And, from my experience, they are a good bit longer, so that should be a plus for you as well.

Thanks all - sounds like everyone is in agreement (is this a first for Scubaboard?!!). Also glad to hear I can put it on myself (I love the rare instances when I can be self sufficient).

Seacure is the way to go!

I like the Aqualung Comfobite mouthpieces. :D

I have a Comfo-Bite on my Pro Diver second stage and it does seem to take less "jaw" to keep it in, although mine feels a little floppy/flimsy/soft. The Seacure one sounds enticing...will it fit a USD second stage?

cheers
