This is one of those holidays most people barely appreciate what its about.

Memorial Day:
Memorial Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the USA. A good thing to remember.

Who's planning on attending a service? I try to every year.

I am.
I flew too many of them out of the boonies to forget . . .

If you see any of those old guys with funny hats, selling red poppies. Buy one, the money goes for disabled vets.

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
~Written by John McCrae~

The Kraken:
I am.
I flew too many of them out of the boonies to forget . . .

Thats great Kraken. I hope it brings you & them some peace.

Semper Fi buddy.

For anyone who's in the area and interested...
Monday, a few other vets and I will be meeting at the front gate of Fort Mitchell National Cemetery (near Phenix City, AL) at 1200 EDT/1100 CDT. After a short tour of the cemetery, where we will pay our respects, we'll be heading to a local BBQ joint for lunch and a mini "Tactical Conference."
