^^Closest water level marker

Water's gonna be a nice brown color until you hit the main cavern opening, where the water will clear out to gin clear.

Mat,
What is the best water level to dive Morrison? I think anything under 2 feet was good. OBTW the gulf will be calm this weekend.

You can rent canoes from Vortex. They can deliver and pick up the canoes, but they will put you on a boat ramp much further away from the spring than necessary - and it costs extra.

Directions to Cypress if you can haul the canoe yourself.
Exit 104 and head South on CR279
Right on CR79
Left at CR277
Left at Culpepper Lane and follow it until it deadends into a boat launch on Holmes Creek

Paddle upstream about a mile and take the spring run on the left to Cypress :)

John boats and small inflatables work great too.

Typically gin clear except in times of very high floods. Basin drops to ~30' and lots of aquatic plantlife and wildlife to keep you busy. There is a cavern, probably a good idea to stay out of it for now.

3.5' and lower pretty much garauntee a good clear dive if you beat the classes into the water. I'm glad you're landlocked this weekend, I DO have plans for the Gulf! :D

I've heard people say Morrison starts clearing at about 6' river level. It seems to clear faster in the summer than winter. I wish they still had someone there to give a report - I don't chance the dive unless the river has been below 6' for a while.

I'm going to try the Destin Jetties Saturday. I took a ride over there today and it looks like they are dredging just North of the finger jetty in the middle of the channel. I'm about to post some pics in another thread. Anybody up for a crapshoot? :D
