Good morning all....

I am looking for reccommendations on a "mouth mask", to relieve mouth fatigue from holding the regulator, as well as giving the ability to later add a communication device.

I will continue to use my regular eye mask, unless a full face mask is a better option...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

On the same note, how different is the breathing with a half/full mask, as compared to a regulator stuck in your mouth?

Also, anyone who has used any type of communication device, what kind do you reccommend? I have looked at the buddy phone, but they are pretty steep in price at present.

I am a HAM radio operator, and was trying to figure out a way to rig an underwater radio to do the same thing, though I highly doubt I will be able to...

Thanks again in advance!!

Dive Link http://www.divelink.net/halfface.htm makes a half mask that would decrease mouth fatigue.

I would demo some full-face masks if you can and see what you prefer, the full mask is nice as it allows you to inhale through your nose as well as mouth...

Ocean reef http://www.oceanreefgroup.com/usa.htm did a demo in conjunction with DUI demo days at Vortex springs recently. If they are going to continue the program that would be a good bet...

Also as a possible help for the jaw fatigue, try the comfo-bite mouthpiece from AquaLung. You don't have to bite it to hold the reg. Might help until you get your other style mask.

You might want to look at this thread about full face masks here:

There's a link to a pic of an IST full face mask, prices run $60 - $100. Re-attach the mouthpiece after inserting the reg in the mask, you'll eliminate the CO2 buildup problems that way.

Underwater wireless comm units operate on single sideband frequencies of 25 - 35 khz. The Buddy Phone runs at 32.768 upper ssb.
If you're thinking about building something, give a holler, I'm always looking for reasonably priced DIY goodies.
