You may find you need a lot more on your first ocean dive. I went the same route as you basically and didn't do any speciality, lots of research and talking with guys diving it etc. Ended up getting a Pinnacle suite. Made a lot of adjustment to my weight to compensate but I was hugely surprised when I got in the water and had to add an additional 6lb to get me to descent. I have from the onset added 6 on top of my standard setup with a 5mm suite. I'll do lots more diving and trimming with it during the winter to try and improve both myself diving a dry suit and my weighting.
I wish I can get rid of the darn water coming in through my dump valve, it's been serviced and a new valve installed. I started diving with the valve all the way open during ascent and learned that may be the cause, now I have it 3/4 open but still end up with my left upper arm totally wet.
