Nautilus Lifeline GPS-VHF Radio for divers

Features

GPS-VHF RADIO FOR DIVERS
This is a revolutionary communication tool for divers. The chat button allows you to communicate with any radio set to the channel that you chose. The Hail and Distress button is set to the international distress frequency of channel 16. The Lifeline Button automatically sends your GPS coordinates to any modern marine VHF radio within a 12 mile range.

Great tool to have when diving especially for Drift and Live-A-Board & Tec Diving!

I am curious about this radio. I am kind of a tech geek and like radios and what not. I prefer to drift dive in Cozumel. Has anyone used one, even just to test it out?

bffr.

I took mine out the weekend it arrived. I went into the water and my buddy went off with the boat. He went three miles and it worked great. I did not want to sit out in the ocean while we tried to check max range. I have been diving and traveling with mine here in the Caribbean and have had no problems. Showed it to the dive shop and boat captian in Sy Martin and they were impressed. They had never seen or heard of it. The DM was going to buy one last week.

I'd be interested if it was combined with a GPS navigation device. I want a map GPS unit with an antenna that can be shot to the surface and have the emergency locator as well.

Works at the Surface just not Underwater!

Just bought it today and hope I never need it!!

Need, yes. But I wouldn’t discount the value of being able to communicate with the boat beyond Help or OK. It can save you a long swim if everyone else is onboard and they can pull anchor to pick you up. I’m sure hearing you voice is more reassuring to the whole crew than just seeing the head-pat salute.

I swung by The Scuba Connection (Diveseekers) and bought one this afternoon. I'll probably put a lanyard and a bolt snap on it and keep it in my drysuit pocket as it seems like it should fit perfectly. Let's hope I never have to use it!
