Oct is by far my favorite month here in NC. The air temp has cooled off so it's not so darn hot but the water temp is still up at or near 80. The fish are also starting to bite in the surf so non diving time can be spent fishing. As far as the water conditions, like always here in NC, it just depends on your luck. We can have glass slick seas one day and 8ft the next....another reason to bring the fishing rods along. It's also still hurricane season but the odds are a bit better than in Sept.

Where in NC are you planning on going?

I was thinking Morehead city, unless there are better places? Our primary goal is to do a U-boat if possible. We're going to be diving doubles and dry suits so water temperature doesn't matter much as long as it's above freezing point ;-))
Our first trip there, so options are pretty much open...we're going to be driving from North (Ontario).
Any recommendations/ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

well as herman stated OCT is also my favorite time of the year , yes still hurricane season
but less than in sept except maybe this year looking maybe Monday or Tuesday getting one again (27-29 SEPT darn Jeanne )
