Thanks, Fish149! I think I will have to wait and see....I'm considering using my miter saw to cut my current canister in half...installing the switch and bood [use the acid free silicone, thanks JohnnyC] and see what happens.

Caveeagle: The AUS light I have is pre-1997 as I talked to a technician from AUS who said it predated his time there [1997-2007].

Happy Diver, this would be very preferable...but how do you protect the exposed charge cable end?
 
I just bought a new switch and switch boot from light monkey...and am going to see if I can cut down the existing canister....maybe seal it and have charging contacts outside it. I will buy a new battery to put in it.

Any ideas on external charging cable?
