My 13 year old daughter has done two Intro to Scuba dives and fell in love with diving. I told her she could get certified this summer. We live in south Orange County. My instructor originally was going to do a class for her, but he is now too busy and will not have time. He recommended another instructor who is also too busy this summer. I am looking for recommendations for an instructor who could certify my daughter during Aug/Sept. I was originally thinking that I wanted private instruction, although there can also be benefits to group instruction, so I am not averse to that as long as it is a small group and I speak to the instructor first.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Mike

If you want the best possible instruction I would look at L.A county instructors.

L.A. Scuba

The open water certification takes longer, but the instruction she will get is about the best you can get. Also most if not all L.A county instructors are also Naui instructors so you can get both certifications at the same time. You may want to talk to Tom Wetzel and ask him if he knows someone in Orange county.

Just in case you don't know, those are the same instructors that teach the L.A life guards (Baywatch) , the L.A and Long beach fire department.
