I have two Nemo's that are indicating low battery. Question is do I have to send them back to Mares for replacement??? If so can I send them direct or do I have to factor in the cost of a dive shop handling them? The battery costs all of $4.00. What's going to cost me? Can it be done locally?...I have one replacement gasket.

Hi Lars,

Where are you located? If you have a local shop that has been trained they can do it. If you are in the US, we charge $24 (including the battery). The work itself is not complicated, but we also leak and pressure test them. It is important to put the gasket in correctly as we have seem many done incorrectly, screws not put in etc.. and the result is the computer is ruined once it is in the water. Naturally if not serviced properly the warranty is void and you have thrown away the cost of the computer.

So for MARES to do it, it is $24 plus shipping. If you tell me where you are, I may be able to reccomend a dealer who is qualified.

Regards

Phil -

Thanks for the quick response. I'm in Tampa, Lithia to be exact, which is near Brandon. On "new" dealer I contacted quoted me over $50 per computer. Point me in the right direction.
Thanks Lars

Lars,

Well the dealer should include shipping and handling, I cannot tell you how they determine their charges.

If you wish to send it directly to us, contact our Customer Service department at 203 855 8666.

Right you are. I'd prefer the direct shipment route, nothing against the dealers, but the dealer I know of is miles away and anything but convient. I'll give CS a call.

Thanks

A contacted Matt in Customer Service as you suggested, mailed my Nemo's off the next day and a week and a day later I had them back with new batteries. Thanks again for your help.

When I sent my Nemo in for a battery replacement there was a huge cluster about how to do it and who can and cant do it... After lots of confusion between my LDS and a online retailer the computer ended up at Mares and they really helped me out. Anytime from now on it is just going straight to Mares. I know it will be done correctly, and they do it quickly...

Can't complain at all about Mares service...
