Well, they needed a new helicopter because the older one had been badly damaged and I am glad that the new one will also be available and ready for search and rescue if needed.

Here is a thread from last year about the Cayman police helicopter successfully assisting with the rescue of a waverunner driver and also some divers that were caught in a current, both on the same day, so they really need a reliable helicopter!

Also the new copter arrived in time for the royal visit and was used by Prince Charles for his trip to Little Cayman:

Thankfully we have always also had the use of Cayman Island Helicopters whenever the need arose and for many years before the Police ever had a helicopter. They along with many of the big private fishing boats that constantly volunteer have successfully been doing search and rescue for many years.
