Well, my wife and I are new divers. Very new. After Padi Open Water certification through John Searle of Sea Sports Belize (which was a great experience) we took a trip with the Belize Aggressor III. At 3PM sharp on Saturday we walked aboard the Belize Aggressor III. All our dive gear was set next to our locker and tanks on the dive deck. We were invited to set up our gear first. When we finished setting up, one of the Dive Masters talked with us and asked us how many dives we had, and we told them "four". He said, "Really??? That's awesome! This will be a great way to start your diving experience!" We thought we might be the most inexperienced of divers when a few minutes later one of our fellow passengers was asked the same questions and replied, "Well do you count closed water dives?" He completed his Open Water certification while on the Belize Aggressor III. Most of the divers had well over 300 divers, but they were all gracious to us and eager to help us have a great beginning.

When we were finished setting up our gear we were escorted down to our cabin which had our luggage. We unpacked and then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon touring the boat and relaxing. The entire cruise could not have been a better experience. All dives were at Lighthouse Atoll except Friday's dives which were at Turneffe Atoll. The food was very good and plenty of it. There was wine and beer after a day of diving for those who wanted to partake. We found all the divers friendly and helpful, especially to us as new divers.

The crew was beyond helpful. They really seemed motivated to inform, instruct, help, teach, guide, serve and enjoy the trip with us. The visibility was very clear and probably was 75-100 + feet on most dives. The variety of fish was amazing and the ease of getting on and off the boat was as easy as we could imagine. The after dive hot showers were wonderful and the interval snacks really hit the spot! Our cabin was very comfortable but we spent very little time there. Most of our time was on deck or below sea level. The captain and crew made believers out of us in regard to Aggressor cruises.

Sunday we dove Long Caye Ridge and Cathedral

Monday we dove Aquarium and Dos cocos.

Tuesday the group dove Blue Hole, and my wife and I dove the rim of Blue Hole amidst huge schools of fish. We also spent time on Half Moon Caye enjoying nature and a great BBQ. Our afternoon dives were at Half Moon Caye Wall.

Wednesday we dove Chain Wall and Long Caye Wall

Thursday we dove Silver Cayes and and Hat Caye Wall

Friday we made two dives at Black Beauty which is at Turneffe Atoll

We cruised on smooth waters back to Belize City in which most of the passengers took inland tours while my wife and I simply enjoyed the pool at the Radisson. Then a wonderful cocktail party with great food and dinner at a local restaurant.

Here is a GoPro video of our Diving experience:

BTW, thank you to all you experienced divers on Scubaboard. I did a lot.... A LOT... of research on this board before our trip. And we were well prepared thanks to info gleaned from conversations and ideas posted here.

I'm planning the exact same trip at the end of August! Reading your comments are quite helpful. I too have only four logged dives so I'm thinking more and more that this trip is the one for me. Thanks!

Wow, you guys are ambitious. My wife and I felt we needed to wait until we had a lot of dives under our belts to do a liveaboard. We did our first one last year.

Snyde, one of the best things about a liveaboard is the repetition of diving. Doing anything over and over again is a great way to get that activity into our muscle memory, our emotional memory, our social memory, and then we start to build skills where the diving experience becomes more second nature. At least that's what we experienced. It will be interesting when we take our next dives. I hope that memory will be mostly maintained. We will have another liveaboard experience in our future. There is a rhythm to it that's a very cool thing.

Lorenzoid, my wife did think I was crazy, but I am grateful that she trusted me. We also knew that just being on the boat would be a great experience. So, I told her there was no expectation of how many dives she did in a day. I told her I would like to do at least three a day. Well, we both did four dives most every day and then two of the night dives. It just worked out because it was wondrous to be weightless and being with the fish and the reef at eye level... Now that it's done we are both very glad we dove in all the way...

That's awesome. The video was really cool. I especially loved seeing those long pipes on the left sides of your heads, ( I think they are called snorkels but can't remember:wink: ) how cute and quaint. I have done three 3 day live aboards around the Channel Islands and had a blast each time. I still have to do any of the warm water live aboards but one day I will. You two look real comfortable in the water column also, which is very good. Stay wet and have fun!!! B.
