hi, we are new to colorado (living in brighton) and looking for some place to dive that is relatively close. we came here from hawaii and have been diving with great vis (and salt water) and warm water.

i myself wore a 4-5-6 mil wetsuit, even during the summer, so I don't know what type of suit to use. I get cold fast!!

Welcome to the Oysters. As you browse through the RMO forum, you’ll soon see that “local” Brighton diving will tend to be:
- nearby, low-vis, primarily summertime, like Chatfield and Aurora Reservoirs (South side of Denver), or
- road trip, like Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM (year-round 62 degree water), or Homestead Crater in Utah (the nearest you’ll find warm water).

A few Colorado sites are mentioned here:
http://www.divecolorado.com/diveco.htm
and here: http://www.rmdc.com/local_diving.htm

But please don’t be discouraged. Despite our land-locked status we have quite a collection of scuba addicts in Colorado. Trips to the Caribbean are common, and there’s always the Downtown Aquarium in Denver.

Best wishes.

Sounds to me like you should look at dry suits

Knotical pretty much summed it up. There are also some mountain lakes we also dive, in the summer, in drysuits, with hot drinks to follow.

Welcome to Colorado!

Welcome to the RMO's and to CO. Hope you like it here. It must be tough on the diving coming from HI!
We have a lot of great scuba addicts, even if we don't have many diving choices.
Hopefully we will see you down at Blue Hole sometime.
Take care,
Jason

thanks all. as soon as our gear gets here I will hit you all up for some dive trips to where ever. i will have to take the dry suit course soon!!

We are good at posting to this forum when we go diving. Unfortunately I think you are going to be disappointed in the diving here. It will however make you a better diver.

Taking a drysuit course is not difficult, paying for a drysuit is more so! If you do get a drysuit, there a many of us who can teach you to use it. As an experience diver, you really don't need a class. I had 10 dives dry before I took the course. I did so only because I got a freebie. I did not really learn much, but it was still a good experience.

Welcome to Colorado. Even if our diving is not wonderful, the airport is less than an hour away, and Coz just a few short hours in the sky! We do have have some of the best skiing in the world! :D

welcome to CO...also as mentioned before the blue hole, homestead (dive early in the morning, otherwise the silt can get kicked up and the viz goes down...also what i just found out was this plae outside of Salt Lake as well...
