Welcome and Congrats. Dutch PA is a great place to take a dip. As for the gear, you need to figure out where you want to dive in NJ. I would recommend starting out with owning your own regulators and bcd to start with since you are going to travel and dive.

If you like to wreck dive NJ has losts of wreck, I recommend dive dry. Temps can get down to the low 40's. With a drysuit you can go diving all year round with the right undergarmets. Like to experience the chill? Take the New Years Eve Dive and Dutch PA.

Every Sunday there are shore dives at L-Street in Belmar run by Divers Two. Temp this Sunday was 73 degress. Viz ~15 feet.

Feel free to PM me if you need a dive buddy or if you want to chat about scuba.
