I'm currently training to be a PADI instructor and am looking at doing a Nitrox course during our holiday break. I can choose between PADI or TDI with the dive shop that I will do the Nitrox course with. Is there any reason to pick either one of these courses? The shop prefers to teach TDI. If I do the TDI Nitrox can I still count them as Nitrox dives towards the PADI specialty instructor rating once I've certified the right number of divers?

Yes, you could use the TDI nitrox rating to apply for the PADI instructor rating.
From the course instructor manual
PADI Instructors may apply for the PADI Enriched Air Instructor Specialty rating after completing a Specialty Instructor Training course with a PADI Course Director, or by
providing proof of experience and applying directly to PADI.
There is no minimum number of divers certified prerequisite for the nitrox instructor rating

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. I'll do the TDI course so I can follow on with their training more seamlessly.
