I'm off on my first dive trip. Tonight I drive to DFW from OKC and catch a flight in the AM. My LDS where I took my lessons organizes frequent trips and they had a cancellation my fiancee and I were able to grab.

We've both just completed our confined water dives and will do our OW dives while in Cozumel. I stopped by my LDS to pick up our BC's, etc and bought myself a nice Scubapro mask and snorkel, some Twin Jets and booties. My fiancee will stick with the loaner gear for now as she wasn't able to break away from the office to try stuff on today.

While not my first trip to Mexico or even Cozumel, it's my first dive trip and I'm really looking forward to it. I've read online and heard from my aunt and uncle, both avid divers, about what a great place it is to dive. Sharing it with my soon to be wife (we're off to Grand Cayman on June 24th to get married, and dive), is going to make it all the more special.

So my thanks to all on this forum for all the great dive info!

Good luck! I haven't been to Coz but I hear it's excellent.

Pretty nice place to get married...:D

How was the trip?

It was a fantastic trip! We did a total of seven dives while there. Three shore dives on Friday, which were our first OW check out dives. Then Saturday we did two boat dives, the first being our last checkout dive. Sunday again we did two dives.

Saturday's first dive was a great dive on Santa Rosa Wall. It was my first experience on a wall and I'll say going into the dive I was nervous. Once I got in the water and took a look at the beauty of the wall, well my nervousness was gone replaced with awe.

Sundays last dive was in Palancar Gardens. This was another beautiful dive. The swim through's and tall coral formations made for a literal maze underwater. Full of beautiful creatures. One time we got seperated from the guide and I got a little 'panicky'. My gal pointed to another group of divers and seemed reassured to see other divers. I wasn't though as I realized those divers weren't from our boat. It took me a minute to get my wits together but I did and decided to look up for a trail of bubbles from our missing group. I found their bubbles and we swam in that direction and joined up with them after a minute.

The drift diving aspect of the dives was a blast too. It was great to cruise through the water at a lazy 1-2kts with the underwater world slowly and effortlessly unfolding in front of me!
